Consortium

A consortium of three recognized public health institutions spearheads the PANDOMIC consortium. All of them are dedicated to enhancing genomic surveillance capabilities for infectious diseases across Europe. This collaborative effort brings together the expertise, resources, and innovative capacities of these three institutions:

  • Laboratoire national de santé (LNS)

The Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) is a public health player that is, thanks to its international expertise, a key pillar of the healthcare system in Luxembourg and in the neighboring regions. Under the auspices of the Luxembourg Ministry of Health and Social Security, LNS is today an interdisciplinary institute, which serves the country and its inhabitants with its complementary team of more than 390 employees, contributing relevant expertise and excellence to the public health sector. At its headquarters in Dudelange, LNS runs four diagnostic departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection, as well as the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics.

  • Institutul Național de Sănătate Publică (INSP)

Founded in 1927 by royal decree and with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Institute of Public Health carries out its activity in compliance with the provisions of the foundation of Romania’s sanitary law, namely the guarantee of public health. The National Institute of Public Health fulfills the role of the technical and methodological forum of the Ministry of Health. Thus, it is the most important promoter of public health policies in the fields of combating and controlling non-communicable diseases, priority communicable diseases, and health in relation to the living and working environment.

  • Institutul Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare Medico-Militară Cantacuzino (IC)

The Institutul Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare Medico-Militară Cantacuzino (IC) is a central Romanian scientific institution in the field of biomedicine. Since its foundation in 1921, this institute focuses on the health of the Romanian population, promoting the prevention and fight against infectious diseases through all its activities. Currently, IC is coordinated by the Ministry of Defence and continues to develop and maintain the necessary scientific competencies in the area of medical microbiology and immunology to respond appropriately to known and new health threats represented by infectious agents and communicable diseases. IC houses a unique department of microbiology laboratories that support public health and has special reference responsibilities for the national surveillance of important human pathogens, food and waterborne pathogens included.
